The new, state-of-the-art TTU School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is a two-story, 210,000 sf veterinary medical school that includes life science areas containing laboratory and research space, and both small and large animal holding facilities. The overall project includes multiple specialty education buildings distributed over two locations. The second structure, Mariposa Station, includes spaces for infrastructure; clinical, surgical, and husbandry skills development; and large animal housing.
As the first vet school built in Texas in 100 years, the goal of the facility is to produce veterinarians who work with the livestock and wildlife industries, and agricultural communities across Texas; support livestock industries as they feed a growing population; improve human, animal and ecosystem health by integrating One Health activities across education, research and service; and train veterinarians that are equipped to treat the needs of large animals and serve agricultural and small communities where concentrated livestock populations reside.
